The Weekend Setup – September 22, 2022

What to Watch: The Gray Man

The Gray Man is a big blockbuster action movie from Netflix. While it may be a bit over the top with the action, the cast and cinematography are both superb. Ryan Gosling is funny and charming. Chris Evans is funny and creepy. And Ana de Armas is well, Ana de Armas. Great blockbuster action flick before Oscar season kicks off.

What to Drink and Cook: Craft Margaritas and Fajitas

Tequila is more of a warm weather spirit so take advantage of the last opportunity to make some grown-up margaritas. Don’t buy some cheap tequila and make college margaritas, make a grown-up margarita with high-quality tequila like Casamigos or Don Julio. And nothing goes better with margaritas than fajitas.

What to Read: The Comfort Crisis

One of the best books I’ve read in the last 5 years. We work so hard to make our lives as easy as possible. But is that good for us? Probably not. Embrace some discomfort and challenge yourself.

I bought a GoRuck backpack over 10 years ago and have loved it. It’s the most comfortable and functional backpack you can find. But I never actually considered picking up rucking as a workout. After reading The Comfort Crisis though, I started rucking a few miles 2 or 3 days a week and it has been an awesome workout. If you’re stuck in a rut and looking for a new challenge, I highly recommend reading The Comfort Crisis

Plan Your Fall Getaway

Start looking for a getaway spot to spend a weekend somewhere this Fall. I recommend something that is within driving distance instead of flying but will still make you feel like you’re somewhere different than where you live. In a relationship? She will love spending a weekend at a cozy getaway. Single? Stay somewhere nice, eat some good food, read a great book and recharge your batteries. Live in this city? Find a small rural B&B or glamping getaway? Live in the country? Drive to the city and enjoy some restaurants and R&R at a great hotel.

Weekend Sale: Charles Tyrwhitt

Charles Tyrwhitt is my go-to store for dress shirts and polos. I don’t think there’s a better value out there for dress shirts when they offer their sales. If you’re looking for some new dress shirts, I highly recommend checking out their twill non-iron dress shirts and Richmond weave non-iron dress shirts. Incredibly affordable and high-quality.
