Key Features

Premium Synthetic Bristles

The standout feature on the Vikings Blade shaving brush is easily the synthetic bristles. In fact, the bristles are so soft that they rival those of a silvertip brush.

If you didn’t know, silvertip badger hair is considered the premium bristle hair on the market.  Why? Well there are two main reasons silvertip brushes are considered the best of the best: 1)they are softer and more comfortable on your face and 2)they retain more water which allows you to get a better lather. In both of those areas though, the Vikings Blade synthetic bristles are very similar to a silvertip.

The bristles on this brush are very soft but still stiff enough so you can really apply a good lather. Additionally, I know everyone likes soft bristles (I do too), but I also like when there’s some rigidity to the bristles and knot because that really helps soften my beard and exfoliate my face preparing it for a shave.

Made With Excellent Craftsmanship and High Quality Materials

Vikings Blade does a remarkable job in regards to the craftsmanship and materials used on their shaving brush. Lots of shaving brushes start to fall apart and lose bristles pretty quickly, but this brush is built to last. There’s a decent amount of weight in the handle and it just feels like a premium brush in your hand.

I have seen some complaints regarding the knot, but that hasn’t been my experience. In my experience, it is a tightly packed, compact and well made knot that doesn’t lose hairs. It has a very good structure and doesn’t shed.

Multiple Handle Options Available

The Vikings Blade synthetic shaving brush is available in 4 different handle options:

  • Capsule dark raven
  • Capsule fire mare
  • Bulb dark stallion
  • Bulb white knight

The two “capsule” options are a cylindrical shaped handle while the two “bulb” options are the more classic round handle shape. The capsule handle is definitely a little more narrow than the bulb handle. Because if that, I prefer the bulb handle but probably just because it is more of what I’m used to. My hands are a little bigger so the bulb is a little more comfy to use, but if you have smaller hands, the capsule might better suit you.

All the handles are made from a high quality and durable acrylic. And they all also have a Swedish alloy base. This combination makes the handle really nice aesthetically and functional. The alloy base adds some good weight to the brush.

All 4 optional are really great looking handles that are well made. These aren’t a cheap knockoff but they all have a really high end finish. I don’t think you can go wrong with any handle option, it really just depends on what size and shape you want in a handle.

Tremendous Bang For Your Buck

The Vikings Blade luxury shaving brush is a tremendous bang for your buck. In fact, this might be my favorite brush when it comes to incredible performance at a still very affordable price.

No, it’s not as cheap as the entry-level pure badger brushes. But it’s performance blows those brushes out of the water.

As we’ve discussed, the softness of the bristles and its water retention rivals that of premium brushes. So when you do a cost/benefit analysis, this is just a tremendous value for what you are spending. No, not everyone has the budget to spend this much on a shaving brush, but this is probably the cheapest shaving brush with premium features you’re going to find.

Who Do We Recommend The
Vikings Blade Luxury Shaving Brush For?

I’m a huge fan of Vikings Blade’s synthetic shaving brush. The design, performance and durability of this brush are all top quality. I really don’t have any complaints about this brush.

If you’re looking for a premium brush but don’t want to spend as much money as a silvertip costs, then this is probably your best option. In my opinion, silvertip brushes are softer and do retain more water — but it’s marginal. There’s just not a big difference between this synthetic brush and a true silvertip. But there is a big difference in the price tag between the two options.

I usually only recommend the cheaper pure badger brushes for beginners, but if you’re willing to increase your budget a little, then this is a great brush for beginners. Or any wet shaver.

This is also a great for men that really want a brush with synthetic bristles. Some men prefer not to use a badger hair brush because of ethical concerns while others might not want to use a badger hair brush due to the smell or an allergy. Whatever the reason is though, the Vikings Boade luxury brush is my favorite option for men that want a brush with synthetic bristles.

What Are Some Other Shaving Brushes To Consider?

Escali Pure Badger

If you don’t quite have the budget for the Vikings Blade luxury shaving brush, then you are going to have to settle for is a pure badger brush.

My favorite pure badger shaving brush is Escali’s. It is a really well made brush and the pure badger hair is the best you’re going to find. It’s definitely not going to be as soft as the Vikings Blade synthetic, but it is still capable of delivering a really good lather.

Escali’s pure badger brush is what I recommend for most beginners. It’s a “good enough” brush that is pretty durable. Then after you have learned some good technique and how to take care of a brush, then you can upgrade to a premium brush.

Parker Deluxe Synthetic Silvertip

Want a synthetic brush but not sold on Vikings Blade’s? Then take a closer look at Parker’s deluxe synthetic silvertip shaving brush.

Parker’s synthetic silvertip is very similar to Viking’s Blade. The synthetic bristles are soft and they retain a lot of water which allows you to get a great lather. The handle is a black resin with a chrome base so it’s sturdy and durable.

I personally prefer the Vikings Blade synthetic brush but I don’t think you can go wrong with either option. This is another really affordable option for someone that wants a premium brush without the premium price tag.

Parker Silvertip Badger Brush

If you want a silvertip badger brush, Parker’s silvertip is my favorite. It’s definitely costs quite a bit more, but you are going to have to spend more if you’re looking for the best of the best.

The biggest reason to upgrade to a Parker silvertip is because the bristles are so superior. Not only are they quite a bit softer, but they also retain more water which allows you to get an even better lather.

In my experience, silvertip brushes are only marginally better than the Vikings Blade synthetic brush. Are they softer? Yes. Do they retain water better? Probably. Are they worth the big price jump? I don’t know.

So if you want the best of the best, get a Parker silvertip. But if you want a premium brush that’s still really affordable, stick with the Vikings Blade luxury shaving brush.
